TL; DR
- Samsung’s Galaxy Buds app has a new reference to previously unknown ‘Able’ Galaxy Buds.
- The name also appears in a list that includes the Galaxy Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro.
- Despite the Galaxy Buds name, the model number associated with the Able doesn’t match Samsung’s known headphone label.
Samsung has been making wireless headphones for years now, but it’s only been over a month since we got to know its latest additions. Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro. Apart from these two main models, every now and then we get another entry into the Buds family. Buds FEor Galaxy Buds Core we saw it launched last year. And today, we’ve identified the next new addition to the Galaxy Buds lineup.
For this finding, we’re focusing on Samsung’s Galaxy Buds app. Looking at the lines of text contained within, we suddenly see a new name splashed out next to the latest Galaxy Buds 4 models:

So what are Galaxy Buds? He can? Well, let’s start with the name. Strangely, though, both the Buds 4 and Buds 4 Pro are built-in codenames based on composersAs you can see on the right, the Buds Able codename just looks like “ability”.
Based on the branding alone, we wouldn’t be surprised if these have some kind of accessibility angle. As to what exactly it could be causing, your guess is as good as ours, but maybe something positioned like an OTC hearing aid?
Then there’s the model number — and that’s weird, too. Samsung tends to stick with the SM-R* numbering for its Galaxy Buds models. It’s not just the main entries: the Buds 3 FE SM-R420 and the Buds Core SM-R410.

In fact, as far as we can tell, Samsung doesn’t have it right now any SM-U* devices in its ecosystem. His smartphones often the end With U for US variants (S26 is SM-S942U), but not ours.
Finally, there is another discrepancy in this data set. While the shortest forms of the first two devices were listed as ‘Buds4’ and ‘Buds4 Pro’, this new model appears to be the ‘Galaxy Able’ rather than the ‘Buds Able’. We also feel that Able is just a code name and Samsung may not have decided how it wants to market this model yet.
Where does all this leave us now? Yes, we can continue to speculate with some increasingly half-baked theories (if like “Buds A BLE” Bluetooth Low Energy?), but we’ll just have to be patient if we want to get any real answers here. Perhaps these will come in a future software update. Maybe we’ll find the SM-U600 model number somewhere in Samsung’s database. For now, we’re keeping our eyes open and will post any new findings we come across.
