It’s on Studio Display XDR There was a rare drop in Apple’s priceif you choose the option that does not include a stand. The Studio Display XDR went on sale last month starting at $3,299, whether you choose the VESA-mount model or the model with Apple’s tilt-adjustable stand.
The company has quietly updated pricing to drop the VESA mount option by $400, so the entry price screen is now $2,899. The Studio Display XDR with stand still starting at $3,299.
Obviously, the VESA mount option should cost a lot less to produce than the stand model Apple included, so it was a bit odd that this wasn’t reflected in the price difference earlier.
Regardless of the reason, a ~12% price drop less than a month after launch is extremely rare for any Apple product.
Along with the pricing strategy change, Apple has also adjusted the purchase flow on Apple.com to make the new standard price levels for Studio Display XDR clearer.
Previously, the first step in the purchase flow presented the user with a choice of standard or nanotextured glass textures.
With this price update, the bottle selection has been moved to the second stage. Now the first step is the stand option, either the $3,299 stand option or the $2,899 VESA mount adapter option. This ensures that the lowest entry price configuration is immediately displayed.

If you’re in the market for Apple’s top-of-the-line monitor but already have a VESA-compatible stand on your desk that you already want to use, you can now save yourself $400.
Unfortunately, the cheaper non-XDR Studio Display isn’t extended the same courtesy. Whether you choose the Studio Display stand or the VESA mount option, they’re still both priced at the same $1,599. On the main Studio Display, you only get a tilt-adjustable stand by default. The height-adjustable version remains a $400 upgrade.
