Follows last year’s choice between two prioritiesRoborock’s new Saros 20 puts advanced navigation at the heart of what has become one of the best robot vacuums you can buy.
If you’ve looked at robotic vacuum cleaners and sweepers at all, you’ve heard of Roborock. The brand has developed some excellent products over the years, and the new Saros 20 takes all that expertise and transfers it into a single offering.
Over the past few weeks Roborock Saros 20 He was commissioned to clean my house and to put it simply, he did an excellent job. It starts with the vacuum itself, this year an impressive 36,000 Pa of suction power – an increase of more than 60%. Although most of my home has hard floors, the Saros 20 performed remarkably well at removing dog hair from carpeted areas, something I’ve been unhappy with other options for years. The mop, meanwhile, sticks with dual heads, which I much prefer over Roborock’s old vibrating mop pad — though you can still choose it if you want. It remains a deep cleaner with an extendable arm for better cleaning of corners.

Many of the innovations in the Roborock Saros 20 are refinements that continue to build on key improvements from years past. But the biggest impact I’ve seen is from Roborock’s improved “AdaptiLift Chassis”. Roborock says this new system can lift the robot over thresholds up to 3.46 inches tall on double thresholds. I have nothing at home pretty much that’s where I see the big but difference is in the part of my living room that has a high ceiling and then uneven stone tiles. Where even Saros 10 had to leave this zone to avoid the robot getting stuck, Saros 20 winds through. This is a major improve for me by addressing the pain point for a long time.
That leaves my couch, that is just Tight enough to cause the Saros 20’s 3.13-inch height to understeer at times. This couch is where the Starsight navigation system falls a little short – it’s great at mapping and avoiding obstacles anywhere in my house.
Another great upgrade this year is the RockDock, which has been redesigned inside and out. The outer shell has a clean, matte gray look that looks nicer, but it still holds the easy-to-access water containers on top. Roborock has upgraded the internals with upgrades for hot water cleaning and mop drying. Only time will tell, but so far the dock has remained slightly cleaner than previous models I’ve tested.

The Roborock app remains excellent, offering an easy-to-use map and easily accessible features. Of course, it wouldn’t be a 2026 product without new AI features, and one of them is ‘Pet Friendly Intelligence’, where Roborock will use its onboard camera to take pictures of your pets or even search for your pets at home. It’s a great idea in theory, but I find that most pet owners, myself included, fear robot vacuums more than anything else.
As mentioned earlier, the Roborock Saros 20 isn’t exactly reinventing the wheel. Thanks to years of development, it’s already one of the best robot vacuums on the market, but improvements like working on overshooting are what eliminate long-standing pain points and make the experience better for the end user.
If you haven’t upgraded your robot vacuum cleaner in a few years, the Saros 20 a excellent choice.
