Airbnb announced Tuesday that it is expanding its service feature with a new category for car rentals in 125 cities around the world. The company has partnered with transportation company Welcome Pickups to allow users to book a private car service in Paris, Bali and Mexico City.
The travel company said it conducted a pilot this year in Europe and Asia that “thousands of guests” used with an average rating of 4.96. Once you’ve booked a stay in a city where the service is available, you’ll see the option to schedule a private taxi listed in the Trips tab of the Airbnb app, Airbnb said. Users can view and make changes to their taxi booking details directly from the app.
“Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups ensures that from the moment they arrive,” said Dave Stephenson, Airbnb’s chief business officer.
The company said it plans to expand this service to more cities and locations throughout the year. Airbnb launched itself services category last summer along with expansion into practices. At the time, it offered 10 service categories, allowing users to book chefs, catering, prepared meals, photography, massages, spa treatments, personal training, hair, nails and makeup in eight countries.
Cooperation with the company was announced in November Instacart to allow guests to order groceries before and during their stay Select cities in the United States.
With the introduction of the new feature, Airbnb is moving towards a full stack of service offerings. The company has also been is being tested by allowing users to book hotel rooms.
During the Q4 2025 earnings call, Airbnb CEO Brian Chesky said the opportunity in hotels is huge, allowing the platform to become part of the user’s journey “regardless of what type of stay the guest wants.”
