TL; DR
- Several UI changes are in the works for the ChatGPT app.
- There is a new custom share sheet and file picker interface.
- We can also get Uploaded files option and options to edit the attached image.
If you use ChatGPT often, you may notice a few changes in the near future. OpenAI is currently working on several UI updates that could be included in the app. Here’s what we discovered in the APK teardown of the ChatGPT app.
Currently, when you click on the share icon below a ChatGPT reply, it will open the system’s share sheet (see a screenshot). While exploring app version 1.2026.090, we discovered a new custom share sheet. This share sheet is part of the ChatGPT app and will be the first thing you see after tapping the share icon.
In the top row there are special programs where you can share the link directly. If the apps are installed, you should see the following:
- Google/Samsung Messages
- Gmail/Yahoo/Outlook
- Alarm
- Snapchat
- Instagram/Instagram Lite
- Facebook/Facebook Lite
- KakaoTalk
- Line
- Telegram
These apps are hardcoded into the ChatGPT app.
In the bottom row there are two options: Copy link and Share. Tapping the “Share” option will open the system share sheet. This gives you the freedom to choose other programs not listed on the individual share sheet.
The next change involves photo attachments. When you add an image to the input box, there will be three options: Clear Image, Remove Background, and Capture and Annotate. The ability to annotate is now available; just click on the image. However, the other two options still do nothing. If you tap these options, “Remove Background” or “Snap and Comment” text will automatically be added to the input box to send to ChatGPT.

For those who upload a lot of files to ChatGPT, this next change should be quite handy. OpenAI works on a selection of downloaded files. When you tap on this option, you will be taken to a new window called “Files in this conversation”. This page will contain all the files you downloaded earlier.
The final change we see during the teardown introduces a new file picker. If you currently tap Files in the attachment menu, you’ll be taken to the system file chooser. In a future update, tapping on Files may take you to the file picker shown in the third screenshot. This screen will show some files you have recently uploaded to ChatGPT. It is not clear how many files will appear on this page, but we saw about 30 files listed.
You will also see an Upload Files option at the top of this page. Tapping this option will take you to the regular system file chooser.
⚠️ Moment APK uninstall helps predict features that may come into service in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, it is possible that such predicted functions may not be publicly available.
