It is interesting that OpenAI CEO Sam Altman On “Mostly Human,” he touched on this issue to talk about artificial intelligence, his company, and the future of humanity. Speaking with host Laurie Segall, Altman was asked to react to a viral video about ChatGPT lying about tracking time and presenting it to the user as gospel truth.
The executive laughed off the video, but it seems he found it a little confusing. Altman quickly stated that it was a “known issue” When Segall asked him if he would submit the video to the product team for a potential solution.
Sam Altman admitted that ChatGPT’s voice model does not have the ability to start time or even track time. “Maybe a year before something like this works well” Altman added. “But we will add intelligence to the voice models.”
To take things up a notch, Husk asked ChatGPT if it could track the time. The chatbot went a little crazy, it shows “It’s just the core of what I can do.”
The AI explorer went on to play Altman’s clip showing ChatGPT’s inability to track time. However, the AI model seems to have rejected Altman, “What he’s saying is that some voice models may not have all the capabilities, but I do.” He insisted on it “I definitely have a knack for timing” when pressed to admit that he can’t keep track of time.
