It’s been almost four years since Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert wowed people Everything, everywhere, at once. Since then, the duo has directed an episode Star Wars: The Skeleton Crew and I didn’t do much else, give or take a production gig.
Fortunately, this is about to change, albeit in the near (but still very distant) future. Recently Collider In the interview, Kwan revealed that the duo’s next, currently untitled film, will be released in November 2027. Production will begin this summer. Critically, he said the film will see him and Scheinert “trying to do what we’ve always done: listen very deeply to what’s going on in the world and try to absorb that and make something really fun and entertaining. (…) It’s going to be a fun sci-fi, an action comedy with a big heart. It’s very existential.”
In another life, this film would have released this summer on the currently busy June 12th Disclosure day. Daniels instead delayed To escape Steven Spielberg’s orbit, and they used that extra time to take in everything that was going on in the world so they could “reconcile all these (complex and really nuanced) things and put them into one movie.”
And when this movie becomes a hit, Kwan says it will be a movie for the big screen. The plan for IMAX executives, he said, is to shoot for the format so much that they can “bring people together and give them a big event. It’s a big action movie that we’re really excited about.” All we have to do is spend eight months next year waiting for news about the film’s production and official title. It won’t be difficult, right?
