The Apple AirPods Pro 3 and Sony WF-1000XM6 are easy recommendations, but they’re not the best headphones for everyone. I have been a Status Audio Pro X fan since they launched late last year and now thanks to Amazon’s Big Spring Sale, you can get them for $50 off their original price.
This means you can buy one of them best sounding headphones it’s currently on the market for just $249, which is about a 17% discount. Of course, even at that price, they’re still quite expensive, at about $80 more Pixel Buds Pro 2Reduced to $169. But if sound quality is your top priority, you really shouldn’t overlook the Status Audio Pro Xi.
Recommended if: you want comfortable headphones with excellent sound quality and no fatigue; love granular control over your listening experience and enjoy EQ adjustment; you prefer physical buttons to control actions.
❌ Skip this contract if: you want deep ecosystem features and prefer long battery life, because despite the 8 hour claim, they usually last about 5-6 hours on a single charge.
Having used the Status Audio Pro X as my primary headphones for the past month, I can confidently say that these are some of the most comfortable headphones I’ve ever used. They fit perfectly in my ears and although they look a bit big compared to others, they stay in place for a long time without causing any fatigue.
Another feature I really like is the physical button on top of each earcup. You can associate it with operations like switching between ANC modes or launching your phone’s assistant. Combined with the gesture controls, this makes for one of the most complete and intuitive control systems I’ve used on a headset.
But what really sets these apart for me is the sound quality. These headphones use the same 12mm dynamic driver as is common on flagship models, but they also include two balanced armature drivers that boost the overall sound level. In addition, the utility allows you to adjust the EQ with a level of control rarely seen in most headphones.
So not everything is perfect. I was a little disappointed with the battery life. The company claims up to 8 hours on a single charge, but in my usage it lasted around 5 to 6 hours with ANC enabled. And that can be a problem for those who plan to take these for a long-distance trip.
However, these headphones do a lot of things right, and if you want something outside of the Apple, Sony, or Samsung ecosystem at this price, they’re an easy recommendation.
