
This year iPhone 16 Pro models may outperform the M1 chip, a new Geekbench result suggested.
The Geekbench scoreUploaded earlier this week, it is linked to the iPhone 17.1, the designation of this year’s “Pro” models with the A18 Pro chip.
It offers a single-core score of 3,429 and a multi-core score of 8,790, which is an increase from last year’s Pro phones, according to Apple’s key numbers at its Glowtime event.

Aside from comparing it to last year’s iPhone, the A18 Pro looks better than the M1, which debuted on Macs with the arrival of Apple Silicon.

While the caveat that this is a benchmark and not a real test naturally applies, it’s interesting that the A18 Pro, found in a device you can carry in your pocket, is now competing with Apple’s laptop and desktop chips (albeit from a few years ago).
For multi-core performance, the M1 benchmarks the A18 Pro at around 8300 on the surface, and while the comparison may seem like apples to oranges for some, it shows how far Apple has come in just a few years – let alone the rest of the industry keeping pace or following closely.
