After the redesign February and MarchGoogle is rolling out another major update for Gemini overlay and Gemini Live. These visual updates are coming in a surprisingly quick succession.
Gemini
Last month, the Gemini overlay on Android was redesigned with a full Tools menu. Google has a new design that combines the menus for attachments and Tools. Compared to before, the pill is a bit narrower, “Ask the Twins” is bigger, and the microphone moves to an outline icon.
Tapping “Plus” scrolls the bottom sheet up. It starts with a carousel for Photos, Camera, Files, Disk, and Notebooks, which use large, rounded squares at the top.
Next Create Image, Create Video, Create Music, Canvas, Deep exploration, Guided learning and Personal Intelligence (transition). Google tested it integrated design on the weband that too should be included in the full mobile app (which has seen no changes today).
Gemini Live
Gemini Live is also getting a major redesign, starting with overlays accessible outside of the full app. Instead of a pill that covers most of the screen, there is now a floating interface. The waveform is in the center and is surrounded by a keyboard for screen sharing and exiting Live. In the upper right corner you will find the titles button. When you start navigating on your phone, this Live overlay will condense into a smaller circle than before.
This redesign is also available in the full Gemini app when you launch Live. The full-screen interface was replaced by an overlay, with the usual home screen underneath.
We’re seeing these redesigns today with Google app beta version 17.3. If not already available, force stop from App info. We don’t see this redesign in the stable channel yet.
