Currently, a glow appears around the pill-shaped Gemini when you activate it by long-pressing the power button or swiping from the bottom corners.

The redesign adds brightness to the perimeter of your entire screen. As before, it is mostly blue, with red, yellow, and green pointing downwards. After some time, these colors turn blue without completely disappearing.

This effect is reminiscent of Gemini screen automation, as well as Circle to Search for greater visual parity.

After the announcement earlier this monthfree Personal Intelligence is now widely available to free personal users of the Gemini app in the US. This feature taps into text, photos, and videos from Gmail, Calendar, Drive, and other Workspace apps, Google Photos, YouTube, Search, Maps, and other first-party apps to customize responses without requiring you to do anything else.

You can turn off Personal Intelligence for a survey by opening the Tools menu and unchecking the new link below. When submitted in JanuaryPersonal Intelligence requires a paid Google AI Plan. Over the past day, we’ve seen it roll out to all of our free Google Accounts.

You are prompted to join and can choose which apps Gemini can access. You can enable/disable services from the Personal Intelligence page in your account menu.

In a related development, Google has rolled out Memory in a big way. It used to be “Past Gemini Conversations” and allows the app to look at past conversations to personalize responses instead of overtly reminding Gemini.
