Google has quietly launched a new AI-powered spelling app that works almost entirely offline. He called Google AI Edge Eloquent (honestly not the catchiest name), the software is designed to convert messy speech into clean, ready-to-use text without sending your data to the cloud.

AI Edge Eloquent takes this idea and applies it to dictation. The app downloads AI models directly to your device. Once installed, it transcribes speech in real-time and corrects mid-sentence errors while automatically removing filler words like “um” and “uh.”
It can also convert the speech into different formats like “Main Points”, “Formal”, “Short” and “Long”. An in-device mode in the app keeps everything running offline, but you can also turn on cloud switching for advanced text cleaning on Google servers with Gemini.
In addition, you can create a custom dictionary to manually add slang or import known and important terms from Gmail. There’s also a strong customization angle. The app can learn your vocabulary over time, improving accuracy for names, technical terms, and other commonly used phrases.
Other handy features let you track your word count and speed, and search past posts. It also looks like the app will get keyboard integration on iOS soon.
Offline AI is fast becoming the next big battleground, and this app pits Google directly against apps like Wispr stream and SuperWhisper.
For now, the app is only available on iOS, but some time ago there was a reference to Android support in the description of the app on Apple’s App Store. That description has since been updated, but it’s likely we’ll see an Android version of the app soon, and with keyboard integration, it could become Google’s smartest voice recording tool yet.
