This is a great way to quickly install a maintenance-free, Apple Home-equipped sprinkler system.

I have found this product to be a lifesaver when you go on vacation with no one around to check on your plants and water them. As hot as summers are in the southern United States, a week without rain or watering can put plants in a healthy state. is struggling unless you water too soon.
How does this work?
Unlike a professionally installed irrigation system, this product sits between an open faucet and a hose. You leave the plug on. When the table is turned on, it allows the water to flow. Ideal for temporary irrigation situations such as holidays or weeks with no rain in the forecast. I always use it in the fall after I control my grass and need to water several times a day for two weeks.
Home Aqua uses two AA batteries. Eve said the batteries should last the entire watering season. Upon opening the box, you will see the included batteries and some accessories to help you connect the Eve Aqua to your outdoor faucet. Next, slide the bottom of the device to install the batteries, then slide it back in. The only thing I would like to see in a future version of this product is a switch to USB-C charging and an internal battery. I’d like to see Matter support in the future, but Thread is already supported.
Once you’ve got it up and running, you’ll want to scan the HomeKit code. Since Eve Aqua is designed to be on the go, I highly recommend saving a copy of the code in Apple Notes or an app like Homepass. Depending on the manufacturing date of your unit, you may need to apply a firmware update to the Eve software. In general, I don’t particularly appreciate installing third-party vendor software for smart home products. The Eve app is worth it because it unlocks some cool automations.
Eve Aqua works with a standard 3/4-inch faucet, but includes an adapter for a smaller hose. If you have problems with water leaking from the top, you may want to use the extra sealing ring that Eve includes in the box. Once connected to your faucet, turn on the water and you’re ready to go. This is not a permanent installation. You just need to turn on your hose and place your sprayer wherever you want in the yard or flower beds.
Using Eve Aqua in Apple Home
One of the easiest ways to use the product is to tap the icon in the Home app. The device will open the tap and start watering. The indicator turns on to indicate that the water is flowing. When finished, tap the icon to stop watering. If this is as much as you want to take, you can stop here and just start watering manually.
Automations are also really powerful in the Eve app. In the Eve app, search for Eve Aqua in the device list and find the schedule section. Generally, early morning or late evening is the best time to water. You can create a schedule that starts every morning at 6:00 AM and runs for a predetermined time. For whatever reason, Eve Aqua scheduling is not natively available within Apple Home.

When you look at the big picture, Eve Aqua is a better choice than a permanent irrigation system for most people. No tearing up your grass for installation, no replacing broken sprinkler heads every spring, and no paying a company for backflow testing (required in most US cities). This is a simple one-time purchase. You get all the benefits of an automated watering schedule during the hot summer months without any of the constant maintenance headaches or massive upfront costs.
