Magnetic accessories are designed for MagSafe, Qi2 and Pixelsnap ecosystems. All phones that support these features also support wireless charging, and there’s a general understanding that being magnet-free benefits those who want non-magnetic wireless charging accessories the most.
As useful as a magnetic wireless charger is, it’s not the only reason to want native magnetic support in a smartphone. I often add magnetic ring adapters to devices that don’t support wireless charging at all, and this has been a game changer.
What can I say, I am attracted by a magnet
I recently installed a magnetic ring sticker on the transparent Honor Play 10 case to use the Play 10. ESR Qi2 Wireless Car Charger when I ride. There is no point in exchanging a wireless car charger for a phone.

While it won’t charge my phone, I can now mount my non-Qi2 device to a magnetic car charger to use as a holder. When using Qi2 devices like me Pixel 10I get wireless charging privileges. No harm, no evil.
There are many MagSafe accessories for Androidas well as Qi2 or Pixelsnap accessories these are not charge based. In fact, you can even use some charging accessories, as long as they have wired charging.
If you have a magnetic power bank that supports wireless charging, it definitely has at least one USB-C input/output port. While you can’t charge a non-capable device wirelessly, you can definitely mount the power bank on the back of said phone and plug in the cable to charge the battery.
Placing a magnetic power bank on the back of a phone that cannot charge wirelessly has its advantages. You won’t forget your phone is charged and drop the power bank. If your power bank has a stand, you can support your device.
If the power bank is securely attached to the back, it is also very easy to operate the phone while connected to the power bank.
After adding the magnetic ring, any other fun magnetic accessory can be easily used with the wireless charging phone. Everything from magnetic wallets and mounts to phone mounts and suction cups can be used.
If you have a wireless charging stand, unplug it and use it as a stand for the phone. Households are likely to have MagSafe iPhones, some Qi2 Android phones like the Pixel 10, and some sports devices with no magnetic support at all.
The trick is to buy the right magnetic accessories
Having a mix of different devices at home does not require you to buy different accessories for different devices. If anything, you should try to get something that works for everyone. For example, my partner has two phones, neither of which have native magnetic support or wireless charging compatibility. In the meantime, I have a mix of several devices that can do one or both of these things.
I have attached magnetic rings to every phone in the house. So we can freely use each other’s magnetic accessories. Comfort is liberating. Each of us can use the magnetic charger as a mount while driving. If I’m carrying a Qi2 power bank, I make sure I get it with a USB-C cable so we can both use it.
We switch a little while I’m clutching my phone. And when any of us need to use a stand or phone holder, we don’t have to worry about anything. All the ones in our house are magnetic, so we can both use them. When we go on vacation, we only take a MagSafe phone holder to watch movies or YouTube.
So it doesn’t matter if your phone charges wirelessly or not. Just add a magnetic ring to it and invest in the right accessories to enjoy the same level of comfort as I do!
