Jeff Daniels is joining the upcoming season of The Morning Show


This will mark the third collaboration between Apple TV and Daniels. Here are the details.

Daniels is back in the newsroom, sort of

according to DeadlineDaniels will join The Morning Show‘s fifth season stars him as a “self-made billionaire and founder of a prominent investment firm.”

The role marks Daniels’ third Apple TV project after appearing in the currently airing third season Shrinkableand talks 2021 documentary 9/11: Inside the President’s War Room.

Daniels’ casting despite not being a news anchor The Morning Show interesting because it reminds me of Aaron Sorkin’s role Newsroomwhere his portrayal of lead host Will McAvoy earned him a much-deserved Emmy.

The Morning Show It wrapped up its fourth season last November, and Apple has yet to confirm a return date for season 5. When recently asked by The Hollywood Reporter if there were any changes to the 2026 premiere season, showrunner Charlotte Stoudt said:

I think so. I haven’t talked to Apple about any release dates, but there was a writers’ strike between seasons three and four, so it’s been quite a long delay. So if it wasn’t this year, maybe we’ll move a little faster. I knock on wood then!
