I have tested it Galaxy S26 Plus it’s been over a week now and it’s full of new Samsung flagships improved AI features as part of A UI 8.5. While there’s certainly a lot to like about the software, unfortunately Samsung’s latest devices have continued to see a noticeable decline, and that’s about it. Twins.
One of my favorite shortcuts for triggering Twins It makes Swipe for Assistant accessible to many Android phonesIncluding Pixels, OnePlus and Motorola devices. When enabled, simply swipe diagonally from the bottom corner of the screen and Gemini will appear. It’s incredibly useful, but for some reason Samsung has removed this gesture from their phones over the past few years.

Good Lock and One Hand Operation +
If you own a Samsung phone, you may or may not be familiar with it Good Lockis an application that allows you to add various plugins to customize your phone. Each plugin focuses on a different area of the UI, from the home screen to the Settings app and even notification management. This is an incredibly useful Samsung app that elevates the software experience, and I highly recommend downloading it, especially if you like hacking.
One of the plugins available in Good Lock is One Hand Operation+. The goal of this particular module is to make phones and tablets easier to use with one hand, which is becoming increasingly important as the average phone screen size continues to grow.
The module allows you to customize handles on either side of the screen that can trigger different functions. This makes it a near-perfect replacement for the missing Gemini gesture, and if you’re like me and trying to figure out how to get that trigger back, I’ll walk you through this handy alternative.
How to set up One Hand Operation + to enable Swipe for Assistant
Before you do anything, you might want to download the Good Lock app, which you can find on your Samsung phone’s Galaxy store. Once you’ve done that, open Good Lock and install the One Hand Operation + module and any other plugins you want. Tap One Hand Operation + to open the module.
1. You may need it run the module before you can do anything.
2. hit Left handle.
3. hit Diagonal up choice. Select in the menu Assistance program. I set the Straight Right and Diagonal Down options None of them. do the same with Right handle.
4. Open it in the main menu Advanced settings.
5. Activate it System back gesture. This allows you to retain back navigation when scrolling outside of the specified handle area.
Volunteer: Review the other options and enable them as you see fit. hit Animation to change the style, size, and color, or turn it off if you prefer no scrolling animation. The Hide support section will disable the gesture on selected screens, whereas Application exceptions will do the same when selected apps are open.
6. In the main menu, scroll down for adjust the size of the handles. I set each to the lowest level, but adjust them as you like. You’ll see the handles on either side of the screen shrink and move as you adjust them.
7. hit The color of the support to adjust how it will appear on your screen. Set the Opacity to 0% if you don’t want the thread to be visible.
8. This is optional, however Gesture settingsyou can change Fast movement so before you can take your finger off the screen Gemini starts to appear. You can also adjust the gesture angles, swipe distance, and vibration settings to your liking.
With this, you should be able to access Gemini by swiping from the area near the bottom corner of your screen, as long as you remember where you put your handles. It’s not perfect because the handles don’t go all the way to the corners of the screen, but they get pretty close. Once you get used to the placement, the gesture works pretty well and I’m very happy with it.
I like it better than Samsung’s default trigger
One of the biggest reasons I’m a fan of the Swipe gesture for Assistant is the change Google started forcing on consumers after the release of Android 12. Galaxy S26 series and other Samsung models, a long press of the power button is set as the default trigger for Gemini, and the button is simply relegated to a “side button”. However, I am not a fan of this way of addressing Gemini.
My biggest problem with this is that it changes the way the smartphone is turned off. I refuse to change this ingrained behavior that companies have instilled in us for years because Samsung (and Google, by extension) are too lazy to implement a separate AI button on their phones.
The power button should remain the power button (I’m going to die on this hill) and I don’t have to awkwardly press two buttons to turn off my phone, especially if the method is very similar to taking a screenshot. So I like having a swipe option for Assistant as an alternative because I can still activate it from almost any screen. But Samsung’s removal of this feature feels like the OEM is trying too hard to make the side button work, and it’s just will not happenat least for me.
So the first thing I do when I get a new phone is to make sure the side button is set to open the shutdown menu. On it Galaxy S26 seriesyou can do so by going to Settings > Advanced features > Side button > Long pressthen set it to Power off menu. That way, I just have to hold down the power button to turn the phone off and Gemini can get its trigger, even if there is a workaround.
