Unlimited Google Photos storage was quickly the biggest selling point of the most popular photo storage service, but as it became harder to scale, Google pulled the plug. For a while, T-Mobile customers had access to a special Google One subscription that included unlimited Google Photos storage, but that’s now dead.
In 2022, T-Mobile and Google introduced it special “2TB + Unlimited Google Photos” subscription. It was only available to active T-Mobile subscribers and, as the name suggests, added 2 TB of Google One storage to your account, and Google Photos backups were not counted against your account storage. At just $15 a month, it was an attractive proposition.
But now, it’s gone.
By September 30, 2025 T-Mobile shut down Sign up for Google One and, in turn, cut access to the only way to get unlimited Google Photos storage.

Customers did confirm existing subscribers to unlimited Google Photos storage plans can still use them, but new signups are no longer available. It also means customers can’t switch to one of Google’s AI-centric One plans and then switch back. This Photo bonus will be canceled if the subscription is changed or terminated.
Update 3/16/25: T-Mobile is telling subscribers still on that plan that it will no longer be available as of April 1. Any subscribers still on the plan will be moved to the Google One plan operated by Google, which will in turn give up the unlimited Google Photos bonus.

T-Mobile: Starting 04/01/2026, Google will fully manage and account for Google One storage service for line(s) ending in XXXX. Update your billing information with Google before 4/1/2026 to back up files and avoid blockages in Gmail, Google Photos, and Google Drive.
T-Mobile support page Updated to mention the 31/31/2026 expiration date and clearly states that the “Unlimited Photos & Videos” plans are no longer available after switching to Google plans.
It starts March 31, 2026Billing and support for Google One will move to Google. Customers must switch to Google billing by this date to continue accessing and backing up your content. After the switch, the 500GB and 2TB + Unlimited Photo and Video plans will no longer be available. Customers can choose the standard Google One plan that best suits their needs.

- Review your current plan and storage usage on the Google website to make sure the information is correct.
- Choose a Google-recommended plan based on your storage needs, or explore other available Google One options before completing the transfer.
