One of the Worst Sci-Fi Movies of the Year (So Far) Comes Home

It’s time to move to the other side of the spectrum. Earlier this week, we wrote how it is one of the best sci-fi movies ever of the year Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Diehe was coming home. Now we have news about one of the worst sci-fi movies of the year. Mercyhe also comes home. But as is often the case with sci-fi, despite the reviews, you’re always curious, right? You want to see for yourself. So here is the information.

Director Timur Bekmambetov (Wanted, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Mercy Starring Chris Pratt the police inspector who killed his wife was prosecuted. Unfortunately, the experiment is being conducted by an advanced AI (played by Rebecca Ferguson) that he once completely outshone. He then has 90 minutes to use every tool available to AI to prove his innocence beyond a reasonable doubt. If he doesn’t, he dies. AI is judge, jury and executioner. Oh, and he’s strapped to a chair the entire time.

While the film is already available digitally, Blu-ray, 4K and DVD release dates have just been announced. It will be released on April 7.

It’s certainly a nice premise, but the bottom line seems to be less so. It received a 25% rating from critics Rotten Tomatoes. Although the audience rating is higher at 83% and the press release states that “verified audience reviews call it ‘intense’, ‘engaging’ and ‘disciplined'”.

Still, there’s still some interest, right? Sometimes I enjoy watching a movie that smells like this. So maybe Mercy perfect movie to watch for both. Then, by the end of the year, we’ll see where the film ranks among other big sci-fi releases.
