As Tecno continues to evolve”Practical AI” approach, the company presents its latest evolution with OpenClaw. The new EllaClaw AI agent is powered by OpenClaw, bringing its open-source AI agent platform to smartphones for the first time, and aims to bring more advanced AI features to emerging markets.
OpenClaw is one of the latest AI platforms It is of great interest to companies like Nvidia. Unlike many typical AI chatbots, OpenClaw focuses on automation; performing tasks on behalf of the user and with minimal user input. It’s also open source, so companies can take it and build on it, which Tecno does for their smartphones.
EllaClaw takes Tecno’s Ella AI assistant and incorporates the OpenClaw framework into it. This allows the new EllaClaw to integrate with Tecno phones at the system level, with capabilities tailored to the smartphone and its user. As a result, EllaClaw will now be able to handle several different use cases that we see in other smartphones. For example, EllaClaw will be able to control multi-step actions with a single sentence using natural language.

In addition, EllaClaw will be able to handle multi-application integration, so a task can be passed from one application to another while the AI agent executes it. This means managing data from texts, calendars, notes or weather apps, where, for example, EllaClaw combines all available data to create an easily digestible table.
It is a popular use of AI summarizing and prioritizing notifications from messaging apps, something we’ve seen most recently Galaxy S26 series. EllaClaw can achieve this while going a step further by highlighting important messages and messages that you can probably delete.

EllaClaw is very similar to what we get from Google and Samsung, two of the biggest players in the smartphone business with similar features to boot. However, it will be interesting to see how the UI evolves across the OS.
On the one hand, using OpenClaw is smart because it allows Tecno to easily create and adapt AI automation for its smartphones with its open source tool. That said, there is OpenClaw received as much criticism as praiseand although Tecno ensures the protection of user data, we will closely monitor this development.
