The flagship feature of Samsung’s new Galaxy S26 Ultra is the Privacy Screen, which has been a great addition to the device so far. But a closer inspection of the Galaxy S26 Ultra Privacy Display reveals that it’s a bit different from a traditional display.
We agree that the Privacy Screen is a major new feature on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, and based on our first impressions. Although the feature struggles in some cases and affects the screen experience while it is active, it is a lot useful and a pretty big game changer for display technology.
Now we get to know the physical equipment more closely.
People already GSMArena It recently published a Privacy Screen breakdown, including a side-by-side comparison of the Galaxy S26 Ultra with both its Privacy Screen turned on and off, along with the Galaxy S25 Ultra without the feature entirely.
When Privacy Screen is on, what the screen looks like under a digital microscope clearly shows the huge difference, with Privacy Screen on effectively half the pixels are turned off. However, even with the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s privacy features turned off, there is still a physical difference in pixel layout compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra. In particular, the new display arrangement is not as dense as that of the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

Nevertheless, GSMArena‘s test found that “color reproduction, brightness, and viewing angles are all nearly identical to the previous generation’s display.” There is se in our own use of anecdotesThere are very small effects on viewing angles, and many early adopters claim to notice qualitative effects—some, including Creative Strategies analyst (and occasional 9-5Google contributor) Max Weinbach, they noticed it also increases eye fatigue.
The Galaxy S26 series is now available for pre-order with Samsung’s usual pre-order benefits. You’ll get enhanced trade-in values and more now until March 11, when these phones hit store shelves.
