At the end of this year, Apple is preparing to make its first debut MacBook Pro Redesign from 2021. With this redesign, we expect OLED, touch displaysM6 Pro and M6 Max chips, Dynamic Island cut and more.
There is one more great detail about these innovations MacBook Pro models and I am more than excited about this change.
They should be thinner
With revised MacBook ProApple should make them thinner and lighter. Probably not, but hopefully enough to make them a little more portable.
I didn’t really take much issue with the thickness and weight 14-inch MacBook Probut the 16-inch model is quite heavy. Thanks for a bigger screen and thermal clearance though MacBook ProI’ve always had a hard time justifying such a heavy and bulky laptop.
Fortunately, with the upcoming redesign, I may not have to worry about that. From Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman:
While Apple continues to improve the product with new chips and other internal improvements, the MacBook Pro probably won’t see another real overhaul until 2026. The company once hoped to release this new version in 2025 – with a thinner design and a switch to sharper OLED screens – but there have been delays related to the display technology.
I can’t imagine that Apple will make the new laptops so thin that they suddenly compromise thermal power. I’m not predicting a repeat of 2016. That said, there is obviously room for improvement without being radically weakened.

Wrap it up
The release of the redesigned version is just over 6 months away MacBook Pro models and they sound pretty exciting! OLED and the first touch screen on the Mac are the most notable features, but I think there will be many quality-of-life improvements worth appreciating.
It’s worth noting that the redesign won’t come to the base model yet, only the M6 Pro and M6 Max with higher-end trims. If you bought the base model 14-inch MacBook Pro You’ll have to wait a bit to get the revised version with the M6, probably 2027 or maybe 2028.
Looking forward to the redesign MacBook Pros? Which feature excites you the most? Sound off in the comments.
