It hasn’t always stayed with Microsoft’s game subscription service, though Xbox Game Pass consistently, Rockstar Games‘ favorite 2013 open-world action-adventure game Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA 5) is one of the best games in the Game Pass catalog and is playable through the app on both console and PC. Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Premium for last year.
In just over a week, it’ll be leaving Game Pass once again — and it’s unclear if or when it will return to the service. Microsoft announced the news recently GTA 5 will no longer be bundled with Game Pass from April 15th, it has been detailed April additions to the programand this news certainly disappointed many.

Of course, it’s always disappointing to see extremely popular and community-driven titles like GTA 5 go. Xbox Game Pass. But given its long-awaited sequel, now is a pretty bad time to do it GTA 6 its much-anticipated launch is just months away.
It’s no exaggeration to say that GTA 6 could be one of the biggest game releases of all time when it releases later this year on November 19th, and is expected to be an extremely explosive and successful launch. If Red Dead Redemption 2 Rockstar’s worlds are incredibly rich, immersive and engaging to play – and GTA 6 promises everything people loved about its predecessor, with greater scale and ambition.
Undoubtedly, the excitement of the game will drive countless players to return to GTA 5 or play it for the first time while they wait for GTA 6, and it’s a shame that they can no longer do that with Game Pass. Maybe he’ll return to service one day like he has in the past, but I wouldn’t expect that to happen until after the sequel.
However, a huge silver lining is that, as with all standalone Xbox Game Pass titles, GTA 5 is permanently available for a massive 50% discount on Xbox or Xbox on PC. So, between now and April 15th, you can take advantage of the game’s final days on Game Pass and then choose to purchase it. $19.99 on Xbox instead of the regular price of $39.99.
🗨️ Sad to see GTA 5 leave Game Pass?
While this isn’t the first time GTA 5 has left Xbox Game Pass after being on the service for a while, it’s notable that it’s leaving now ahead of GTA 6’s launch, as many were hoping the game would remain in the Game Pass library after the sequel arrived.
