TL;DR
- Some YouTube users will begin to see a new experience called “Discover videos with previews.”
- If you are selected for the test, you will see an “admit card” on your home page.
- Clicking on the access card will show you selected highlights from the recommended videos and tell you what the videos are about before you open them.
When sliding YouTubeit can sometimes be hard to tell what a video is about. It certainly doesn’t help when the video’s title and thumbnail are misleading. It looks like YouTube is trying to solve this problem with a new experience.
Active YouTube’s support pagethe company announced that it had started a trial. The test is rolling out to a small portion of users on the Android app on mobile devices. This experience introduces a new feature called “Explore videos with preview”.
According to YouTube, users who choose to be a part of this experience will see an “access card” on their home page. Clicking on this access card will display selected highlights from recommended videos ranging from five to 10 previews. You can then watch the full video, add it to your Watch Later list, and more. you will be able to. The purpose of the feature is to tell you what the video is about before you open it.
YouTube has long had a problem with misleading thumbnails and titles. The company isn’t saying what it’s trying to solve with Discover videos with Previews, but it appears to be an attempt to combat clickbait. Such a feature can help viewers avoid wasting time on content they are not interested in.
