Nothing has officially stopped firmware support for the original Phone (1) since a recent software update.
In a post this week, Nothing confirmed that the July 2026 update marks the end of the Phone’s (1) lifecycle and software updates are complete. Nothing promised three major Android updates and four annual security updates.
The phone (1) finally debuted with Android 12 It will get Android 15 in early 2025.
The latest update is the last shipment, but it’s a pretty trivial place to close the book, just introducing the July 2026 security patch and some miscellaneous bug fixes.

Phone (1) is where Nothing OS starts. It featured our first thoughts around a cleaner, more focused smartphone experience, from the Glyph Interface and dot-matrix design language to a more focused approach on Android. Over the years, Phone (1) has grown with Nothing OS, helping to shape the software experience we continue to build today. Despite this being the end of its software life, the device remains highly usable and an important part of the Nothing story.
Nothing Phone (1) owners have some solid sequels to get into Phone (4a) Pro is one of our favorite releases of 2026 so far – although the company has quietly discontinued the 128GB model on Amazon Although recently still offered in the US Through Best Buy and his the owner online store.
