Motorola decided that the mid-range should no longer look or feel mid-range, and the Edge 70 Pro is its proof of concept. Four 50-megapixel cameras – each – a screen brighter than some flagships, a battery that can withstand a long-haul flight from Dubai to London, and a finish named after fabrics and selected by Pantone. It’s a lot of phones. Whether it’s too much good phone depends on several things.
What will you pay?
The Edge 70 Pro is available in three configurations: 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB. Here’s what it costs in the region’s biggest markets:

In the UAE, Motorola is giving away a free charger, MagSafe cover and Moto Care VIP screen protector. Rival and Motorola devices also have AED 400 trade-in bonus and Tabby installments of AED 375 per month for eight interest-free months. That’s a generous launch package – more generous than what Samsung or OnePlus usually pack at this level.
Saudi and Egyptian pricing should become clearer as local retail channels stock the phone. For now, the UAE release is the most complete in the region.

Camera Square
Let’s start with the title claim: the Motorola Edge 70 Pro is the only phone in its category with four 50MP cameras. It’s not just resolution flexibility – each sensor has a different job:
- Main: 50MP Sony LYTIA 710, f/1.88, OIS. The LYTIA 710 is the same sensor family seen in phones that cost significantly more. This isn’t a marketing rebrand of an old chip—it’s a truly capable piece of silicon.
- Ultra Wide/Macro: 50MP, f/2.2. It doubles as a macro lens, which means close-ups are actually usable, rather than the blurry reflection you get from most 2-megapixel macro sensors.
- Periscope Telephoto: 50MP, 3.5x optical zoom, f/2.8, OIS. A real periscope at this price. Most competitors offer 2x optical zoom at best. The 3.5x reach makes a real difference for everything from street photography to shooting your kid’s soccer match.
- Front: 50MP, f/2.4, 4K video. This is important if you vlog. If you don’t, it’s still the sharpest selfie camera in its price range.
Motorola adds Super Zoom Pro, which uses generative artificial intelligence to increase digital zoom from 20x to 50x. At 50x you’re looking at AI-generated detail rather than real optical data, but at 10x to 15x the results are better than a pure digital product. Tbreak’s camera deep dive goes into detail.
The question Motorola still needs to answer is processing speed. The Dimensity 8500 is capable, but it’s no match for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 when it comes to stacking HDR frames or processing night shots. You’ll get the shot – it just might take a little longer.
The Screen No One Wants (But Everyone Will Like)
Five thousand two hundred nits. That’s the highest brightness Motorola claims for a 6.78-inch Extreme AMOLED, and if it holds up, it’s truly class-leading. Samsung Galaxy A56 is close to 1800 nits. The OnePlus 13R clocks in at around 4,500. Motorola claims to have nearly tripled Samsung’s number.
In the Middle East, this is not an empty feature. Anyone who’s tried to read a map on their phone while walking through a car park at a Dubai mall in July, or checked WhatsApp on a rooftop in Riyadh, knows that outdoor visibility is a real challenge. A phone that can be read in direct Gulf sunlight solves a real everyday pain point.
The resolution is 1.5K (2,772 × 1,272), the refresh rate is 144 Hz, and the panel is Pantone Certified for color accuracy. Over a billion colors, HDR10+ support. It’s a very good display by any standard and great value for money.
Collections by Motorola
This is where things get interesting or tricky depending on your tolerance for the design language. Motorola has introduced “Collections” — a set of fabric-inspired finishes with colors selected by Pantone:
- Inspired by silk Pantone Zinfandel with Sangria accents
- Natural Wood Cocoa Cream with Pantone Chicory Coffee
- Inspired by wool In Pantone Titan with Orient Blue
- Acetate Pantone Lily White with Whisper Pink
In the hand, they are really different. Silicone polymer (eco leather) backs have a texture and warmth that glass and aluminum do not. The 183g weight (190g for the Acetate) is comfortable for a phone with a 6500mAh battery and a 6.78-inch display. The 7.19mm square design is slim enough to disappear in a pocket.
Is it “Premium”? The frame is plastic, not aluminum. But the overall package is more considerate than most phones at this price – or above.
Battery: Quiet Flex
Silicon-carbon battery technology allows Motorola to squeeze 6,500 mAh into this slim body. The company claims 78 hours of music, 29 hours of video or 26 hours of gaming. Real-world numbers will be lower, but two days of battery life is a realistic baseline for most users.
Charging is 90W wired (charger included — thanks, Motorola), 15W wireless and even 10W reverse wireless. For context, Samsung still ships most of its mid-range phones with 25W or 45W charging and no charger in the box. Motorola is being very generous here.

Everything else is worth knowing
- Processor: MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Extreme (4nm). Upper middle row. Great for everything except competitive gaming at max settings.
- Software: Hello UI on Android 16 with Moto ai, Google Gemini, Gemini Live and Perplexity AI search. Dedicated AI button on the side.
- Continuity: IP68 + IP69 (yes, high pressure water jet), MIL-STD-810H, Gorilla Glass 7i.

Should you care?
The Motorola Edge 70 Pro legitimately proves that mid-range models have caught up in the areas that matter most to most people: cameras, display and battery life. A quad 50MP system with a real Sony sensor and real periscope telephoto is unmatched at this price. A 5200-nit display solves the real problem in this area. The battery is large and charges quickly.
The compromises—a MediaTek chip instead of a Snapdragon, plastic instead of aluminum, a vague software update commitment—are real but predictable. If you’re buying a phone in the AED 2,000-3,000 range primarily for photography and display quality, the Edge 70 Pro has made it to the top of the shortlist.
