Hannah Montana Linux v.26 breathes new life into the pink distro
And trust me, it’s very pink
As seen Linuxiacsomeone decided that today is the perfect time to release their own version of a distro that came out 17 years ago. That person is Noah Cagle, who loads everything he needs to escape Hannah Montana Linux v.26 on GitLab. If for some odd reason you’d prefer not to run Hannah Montana Linux on your daily drive computer, here’s how it’s done and the end result. Cagle’s YouTube video.
Well, how is that? Well, imagine KDE Plasma, except everything is pink and Hannah Montana is constantly staring at you in the desktop background. Other than that, its KDE Plasma 6 base should make it a perfectly usable distro for modern use, so maybe “I’m using Hannah Montana Linux btw” will become a thing.
If you’re thinking of running Hannah Montana Linux on original 2009 hardware, it might not work that well:
The main project uses KDE Plasma 6 and SDDM. Plasma 6 can be slow on older machines. In general, you need about 8 GB of RAM to run Plasma 6 smoothly. However, HML26 Small is a fork of this project that uses LXQt and lightdm instead of. LXQt can run smoothly with only 2 GB of RAM, while still providing a fully capable desktop experience. It’s certainly not as beautiful as the Plasma 6, but it’s much more efficient.
If you just want to boot the OS, you can do that over it release page.
