TL; DR

  • Mint Mobile is running a deal for new subscribers: all plans are $15 per month.
  • Plans are prepaid in 3-, 6-, or 12-month increments that cost $45, $90, or $180.
  • After the initial promotional period ends, the service renews at Mint’s standard price.

Mint Mobile’s claim to fame is offering low prices on wireless service for customers who pay for multiple months of service at once. Currently, the MVNO is running a particularly attractive promotion for new subscribers: each plan in the new Mint Mobile deal is currently $15 per month, while the best deal is a one-year unlimited plan for a one-time payment of $180.

Mint’s plans are divided by data and duration. There are metered plans with 6GB, 17GB or 23GB of 5G data, as well as unlimited plans, all of which come in 3-month, 6-month and 12-month terms and are prepaid. All of them Mint Mobile’s plans It’s currently $15/month for new customers, with up to 57% off depending on the plan you choose.

Here’s a rundown of what Mint’s plans will get you during the current promotion:

3 months 6 months 12 months
6 GB $45 (no discount) $90 (25% off, normally $120) $180 (no discount)
17 GB $45 (25% off normally $60) $90 (40% off normally $150) $180 (25% off, normally $240)
23 GB $45 (40% off normally $75) $90 (57% off normally $210) $180 (40% off normally $300)
Unlimited $45 (50% off normally $90) $90 (57% off normally $210) $180 (50% off, normally $360)

Again, these deals are only available to new subscribers. After your prepaid discounted plan expires, you’ll be able to renew at Mint’s normal prices. This means that while each term plan currently runs the same $15 per month, you’ll get more value by paying upfront for one of Mint’s longer plans.

last month, Mint has increased the data allowance for its metered plansadd one or three extra gigabytes per tier without increasing prices. However, the fixed price of this promotion makes Mint’s unlimited plans particularly attractive. Note that these plans come with a data cap of 20 gigabytes, and unlimited subscribers who purchase 50GB or more per month may also see their data speeds reduced.

If you’re shopping for a new carrier, don’t mind paying for several months at a time, and have solid T-Mobile coverage in your area, this week’s Mint promotion is arguably the best deal you’ll find. Mint hasn’t said how long these prices will last, so you’ll probably want to pull the trigger soon.
