Halide 3.1 adds perspective correction, RAW-only shooting, and more

Just a few days After releasing the Halide Mark IIIThe folks at Lux are now preparing to release Halide 3.1: Scarlet Edition. Here’s what’s coming.

Halide 3.1: Scarlet Edition is out this Friday

With the update (via MacMagazine), scheduled for release this Friday, July 10, Halide 3.1 will introduce a new set of features, including new framing tools in the Frames tab.

In addition to allowing users to flip and flip photos, Halide 3.1 will now also include a perspective correction tool that allows users to slide the dial to get the right perspective.

According to Lux, the tool is “similar to the classic keystone correction that photographers traditionally perform with point-and-shoot cameras or tilt lenses.”

While the tool is primarily intended for light perspective corrections, Lux noted that, as in the example above, “sometimes you can push the corrections quite far while keeping the actual photo.”

In addition to the updated Frame badge, Halide 3.1 also gets a new look called Scarlet. In short, it’s designed for photos where the user wants “the reds to really pop”.

Halide 3.1 will also feature a list of minor fixes and improvements based on user feedback. This includes:

• dedicated to Personalization panel in Settings to change UI themes and app icons;
• New compression controls in Settings, complete with a preview sample to help users balance image texture and file size;
• New connection RAW only mode for advanced users who want to shoot RAW files without additional JPEG or HEIC;
• Smarter touch behavior in the viewfinder, so tapping in manual focus mode no longer changes focus;
• Similar behavior for manual exposure mode, where touching the viewfinder no longer overrides the user’s exposure setting.
