We’re torn between the Galaxy S26 series and the upcoming Galaxy S27 series. These series are said to be influencing each other as fears of higher prices for Samsung’s next wave are growing.
At the end of this week ETNews (Korea), reported that Samsung experienced another increase in Galaxy S26 sales SamMobile). The publication’s sources claim that Samsung saw significant sales performance in June domestically and globally. Moreover, the company is reportedly holding an “Appreciation Festival” for consumers. If a Galaxy S26 series device is purchased, consumers will get 20% cashback in “Digital Onnuri Gift Certificates”.
Another contributing factor is Samsung’s website, along with various “open markets” where sales are “three times” higher than before. As a result, Samsung is increasing production of the Galaxy S26 to 1.5 million units from the previously planned 1 million units for July. A report by EInfoMax adds that domestic Galaxy S26 sales surpassed 3 million units for Samsung in 117 days, breaking Galaxy S25 records. GSMArena).
With everything going on in the phone market, the increased demand for the Galaxy S26 is said to be due to concerns over the more expensive Galaxy S27. Lack of memory is (of course) the main cause of these concerns.
A changing market
The popularity of the Galaxy S26 series has been discussed several times and as a result increase in production reported in April. In the summer, Samsung increased production of the Galaxy S26 Ultra by 200,000 units (from a total of 1.5 million units in April) and the basic S26 model by 500,000 units. The Plus model was soon withdrawn. Because the other two phones were more sought-after, Samsung pulled nearly 100,000 units.
We’re not entirely sure what’s going on with the Galaxy S27, but some rumors have said so could be kept soft to avoid ridiculous prices. Some improvements such as the screen and cameras of the series are claimed to be on the back burner. It’s still early and things can change. Rising storage prices affect everyone. Companies are struggling to find ways to maintain profits without taking a loss.
Offers the latest research by Omdia budget phones can take a hitthanks to high DRAM and NAND prices. The market may see fewer budget phones as higher-priced devices give companies more room to make cost-conscious changes.
Android Central’s Take
The Galaxy S26 series is a popular series for Samsung coming off the back of the popular Galaxy S25. Needless to say, the S26 Ultra is a mile ahead of the charge as well. But the change I see in how people buy is a sign of the times. If the price of the phone is “more reasonable” now and we risk seeing these disappear in the future, why not buy it now? Why not buy now and see where the market takes us later? At least we don’t “suffer” as much now. This is all subjective as we all have limits on what we are willing to pay.
