Once Human first launched two years ago, initially only on PC, with a mobile version in 2025. Now, it’s finally coming to console after a while of beta testing.
Once a person is officially designated turn it on Xbox Series X|S and PS5 August 25, 2026. Additionally, it will be coming to the Xbox app on PC on the same date.
not Play Xbox Anywherebut you don’t need to because it’s a free game. If you’ve played before on PC or mobile, there’s full cross-play and cross-progression, including account linking.
Additional goodies include keyboard and mouse support on the console, and while it’s free to play, there will be a few paid bundles you can get with some premium items to help you on your way.
“Survive in a supernatural apocalypse where reality is shattered. As a Meta-Human, explore a vast, Stardust-infested open world where monsters are both a threat and a key to your survival. Every expedition is a risk and a resource. Collect materials and build your last territory, but be prepared to defend your home from relentless attacks.”
Two years is a pretty long wait, and once a person is no longer a once person like it used to be. But it’s an interesting idea. There are elements of survival and aspects of looting games mixed in with both PvE and PvP gameplay, the latter being opt-in rather than forced upon players.
The console version doesn’t seem to be up to date with the existing PC and mobile versions, at least initially. All of this seems fair, at least to launch. First, it’s more important to get it out there and actually make sure it all works as intended. Two years is a lot of content and updates, and I think it’s a smart move. If nothing else, it should be less heavy.
One thing currently missing from the Xbox version is any indication of achievements. It’s been two years Disappointment of the Steam releasewith many threads referring to the fact that the developers have not added anything.
Xbox console games should have achievement support, so maybe this is a departure from the original list. Conversely, perhaps a console release could finally help bring achievements to Steam. In any case, you don’t have to wait and learn too much.
