Apple Music for Apple TV and Android is getting a big update today with home screen widgets as a common theme.
Apple TV 2.5 introduces three widgets that add a Continue Watching carousel to your home screen from the top of the main tab. Apple TV shows a Small episode/movie, Medium doubles it.
Apple TV Large features larger artwork for the first item, along with a scrollable list to browse. Clicking starts playback immediately.
The widgets are resizable and compatible with those available on iOS. Version 2.5 for Apple TV is rolling out now via the Play Store.
On a related note, Apple Music 6.5 is widespread today. This is a big jump from version 5.2, and Apple can synchronize its numbering to match iOS releases (26.5 is the current constant on iPhone).
This update adds two new widgets. Pins give you “Quick access to your Saved Items”, while Live Radio saves you from having to go to a specific tab to start playback. These add-ons join Now Playing, Recently Played, Recommendations and Top Charts.
Another update today lets you “Share songs, albums, playlists and lyrics on WhatsApp”.
