TL;DR
- Google has announced the release of Gemini 3.6 Flash, 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.5 Flash Cyber on CodeMender.
- 3.6 Flash is said to reduce exit token usage by 17% compared to 3.5 Flash.
- Google has said that it plans to make Gemini 3.5 Pro widely available soon, and the team has begun pre-production of Gemini 4.
In May, Google was released Gemini 3.5 Flashthe smartest speed model of the time. It’s only been two months since then, but a shiny new AI model is ready to take its place. There is Google announced Running Gemini 3.6 Flash. Along with 3.6 Flash, the company is also launching 3.5 Flash-Lite and 3.5 Flash Cyber on CodeMender.
Gemini 3.6 Flash: Features and highlights
Gemini 3.6 Flash is introduced as Google’s business model of Flash, providing better coding, knowledge work and multimodal performance than ever before. However, the biggest highlight seems to be the efficiency of the model. Based on Artificial Intelligence Index data, Google says Flash 3.6 consumes 17% fewer output tokens than Flash 3.5. It’s also said to take fewer thought steps and tool calls to move through multi-step workflows.

Moreover, the model will be available at a lower price than the 3.5 Flash. The company has set prices at $1.50/1M entry tokens and $7.50/1M exit tokens.

But it’s not just about efficiency and cost; performance also improves with this new model. According to Google, Flash 3.6 is more accurate, provides fewer unwanted code edits, and reduces execution loops. Computer utilization has improved from 78.4% to 83% and now has an internal client-side tool through Gemini API and Gemini Enterprise. As you can see from the graphs above, the benchmarks of knowledge work also favor the new 3.6 Flash.
Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite: The fastest model in the series
The Gemini Flash series is built specifically for efficiency and speed. Gemini 3.5 Flash-Lite is the new cream of the crop in the 3.5 series for low latency and high throughput. The latest Flash-Lite model runs at 350 output tokens/s and costs $0.3/1M input tokens and $2.5/1M output tokens. Besides speed, there are a few other bragging rights.
Google says that 3.5 Flash-Lite offers “significantly better quality than 3.1 Flash-Lite.” It is also said to be significantly superior to the previous model. And 3.5 Flash-Lite not only outperforms its predecessor, Google claims it even outperforms Gemini 3 Flash.
Fixing vulnerabilities with Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber
Unlike the previously mentioned models, Gemini 3.5 Flash Cyber is designed for cyber security. This model is built on Flash 3.5 and is patched at a lower cost per token than older models to find and fix vulnerabilities. Google says that when 3.5 Flash Cyber is used within CodeMender, the company’s managed code security agent, multiple 3.5 Flash Cyber agents are used to create a single consolidated report. This model will only be made available to governments and trusted partners via CodeMender soon as part of a limited-access pilot program.
Availability
Both the Gemini 3.6 Flash and 3.5 Flash-Lite are available today. For everyone else, these models will appear in the Gemini app, and you’ll also find 3.5 Flash-Lite in Search. Developers will be able to access these models in the Gemini API through Google AI Studio and Android Studio. Meanwhile, enterprise users can access them through the Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform and Gemini Enterprise software.
In an update, Google adds that the Gemini 3.5 Pro model is making progress as it continues to test with partners. The company says it plans to make the 3.5 Pro widely available soon. In addition, Google said that it has already started pre-production of its next flagship, the Gemini 4.
