Chrome on Android is about to tame annoying notification requests

Google has worked hard to improve the Chrome user experience on Android. The company has recently added new features including a redesigned navigation panel. Now he is working on a change that will give almost every internet user a sigh of relief.

a post On the Chrome for Developers blog, the company announced some changes to how the browser displays notification requests on Android (via PiunikaWeb). Currently, if a website asks for your permission to show notifications, the request steals your screen until you allow or block it.

Starting with Chrome 155 on Android, the browser will start showing notification prompts as a small, unobtrusive pop-up at the top of the window. This might be better for someone trying to browse the website by itself, but Google makes it even better: if someone ignores the notification request, it will simply time out and be removed.

It’s worth noting that if the user decides to enable notifications later, Chrome will also offer a new notification subscription option right in Chrome’s site management interface.

Chrome on Android is currently on version 150, and this change will ship with Chrome 155. So why is Google already making this announcement? It turns out that website developers will have to make some changes to their site’s code so that it plays nice with Chrome’s new notification prompts. With the announcement, Google also shared potential implementation changes for web developers to ensure their sites are ready on time.

The main thing is that users do not need to do anything about it. Once Chrome 155 rolls out, notification prompts will automatically switch to this new, less intrusive layout.
