Apple’s AI glasses to be unveiled at WWDC27: report

Expected to launch late next year, Apple’s long-awaited AI smart glasses finally have an expected launch date.

Revealed at WWDC27

That was the case earlier this year informed Apple’s AI smart glasses will be available for purchase by the end of 2027. report from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman. But now we know that Apple intends to unveil the new glasses to the public at next year’s Worldwide Developers Conference.

The timing of this reveal could be an indication of what’s to come for Apple’s AI glasses. It seems unlikely that Apple will introduce a new device at WWDC without providing some sort of way for developers to create software for the device. So instead of being limited to Apple’s first-party features, the glasses can integrate data and actions from third-party apps like the new Siri AI.

If it happens, it will be very similar to the launch of the Apple Vision Pro in 2023: the hardware and software were reviewed months in advance so that developers could work on creating apps for the platform, and the final hardware was released later.

Privacy concerns

One reason Apple’s glasses have been delayed from their expected launch date of late 2026 is their ongoing efforts to address privacy concerns. Existing products from products like Meta have drawn criticism, protests and even bans from those concerned about the privacy impact of glasses with cameras. according to Report from GurmanApple is exploring many options. In addition to testing a device with no camera, Apple is considering a software solution:

Another option discussed by Apple executives: including a full camera system, but not allowing it to record photos or videos at all. In this scenario, the cameras will only be there to see the world around the user and feed that information to AI tools like object and location locators. It’s similar to what Apple already has planned for the camera-equipped AirPods, and will build on the visual intelligence features on the iPhone.

In addition to these efforts, Apple is also said to be “prototyping a number of new hardware and software-related privacy features not available in current products.”

Wrap it up

Apple’s AI glasses won’t have any display, but will be able to take photos, listen to music, talk to Siri, make phone calls, and more. Their feature is also expected unique and stylish design differentiating them from competitors. Is this a product you would be interested in? Let us know in the comments!
