LM Studio’s agent workflow platform now allows users to perform tasks with Moonshot AI’s Kimi K3, a 2.8 trillion parameter model, 1 million context windows. Here are the details.
Kimi K3 is now available on LM Studio Bionic
A few days ago, LM Studio announced Bionica new application aimed at users who want to use open models for agent tasks.
Bionic is designed to handle more complex tasks involving coding, research, and creating or editing documents and files.
Users can run models locally, or use larger cloud-based open source models that offer longer context windows and more powerful inference and tool invocation capabilities that smaller local models cannot (yet) offer when the task requires more computing power.
From LM Studio’s original announcement:
Bionic is an AI agent for doing complex tasks with open models, including coding, research, and documents and files. You can use on-premises models for heavier tasks or switch to open-source models in the cloud while controlling your privacy and AI costs.
For cloud-based models, Bionic is based on US-based output with Zero Data Storage. This means that requests are processed on servers in the US and that requests, files and model outputs are not saved after processing is complete.
Until now, users relying on cloud-based open models could use DeepSeek V4, Pro, GLM-5.2, Kimi K2.6 and Kimi-K2.7-Code. Today, the company added the Kimi K3, giving users access to what many consider to be the most capable open source model available today.
Kimi K3 via Bionic is priced at $3 per million input tokens, $0.30 per million cached input tokens, and $15 per million output tokens.
This is in stark contrast to previous models, which ranged from $0.95 to $174 per million input tokens and $3.48 to $4.50 per million output tokens.
However, the addition of the Kimi K3 is a welcome development, especially for users looking to tackle more challenging tasks via LM Studio Bionic.
LM Studio Bionic is available for Mac and Windows and you can learn more about it here here.
