Lake Mary, Florida-based cybersecurity startup Spur Intelligence has raised a $200 million round from Insight Partners.
Founded by two former Department of Defense engineers in 2017—five years before ChatGPT went public—Spur was a visionary. The startup’s technology helps businesses separate legitimate human users from increasingly well-disguised bot traffic to help identify fake users and threats.
“As advanced criminal VPNs, residential proxy networks and anonymization infrastructure proliferate, organizations increasingly operate with a critical blind spot: they can see the activity, but not the infrastructure behind it,” Insight’s Thomas Krane said in a written statement.
Detecting malicious traffic has certainly been a hill for corporate security teams to climb for centuries. But nothing compares to the onslaught they face today. Bots now from mid-2026 more active Cloudflare reported last month that there are more people on the internet.
“I thought it would be late 2027, then early 2027, but agent traffic is growing so fast that bots have now overtaken human traffic online for the first time in Internet history,” Cloudflare founder and CEO Matthew Prince wrote. X last monthpointing to his company’s latest traffic report.
