HBO Max turns up the heat with an August line-up based on big event television. In addition to the mix of unscripted content, subscriptions are also available for some movie streaming premieres, long-awaited new series, a new season of a returning favorite, and another movie. Hard Knocks training camp, this time with the Seattle Seahawks. There’s also a new treat for documentary fans, and this looks like a must-see project, especially for film buffs. The Tiger King.
There will be two major headlines in August. The first consists of five parts original documentaries Monsters of Godinvestigates the shadowy world of exotic reptile smuggling by chasing down two rival kings. Episode 1 debuts on August 6. The second title is the debut highly anticipated DC series LanternsBrings the Green Lantern mythology to life in a grounded, mysterious way. Expect this to drop on August 16th.
Comedian Whitmer Thomas returns with his second stand-up special on August 14. Terminal Crew of Friendsdigs into his small-town Alabama upbringing, and Conan O’Brien returns with a new season of the rib-tickling travel series on August 21. Conan O’Brien has to go. Movie buffs should look forward to new streaming premieres.
The next part is the cooler Strangers franchise, Strangers: Chapter 2premieres on August 7th, and fans of Bob Odenkirk will be happy to know that it’s a new neo-Western thriller. Normal It will be released on August 14. Additionally, Anne Hathaway’s new drama musical, Mother Marypremieres on August 21.
