If you’re on the fence about pre-ordering the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, or iPhone 16 Pro Max, Apple has a way to close that pre-order setup ahead of time to speed things up when pre-orders go live on Friday, September 13.

Going through this process gives you a significant advantage over others trying to complete all these steps when the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro go up for pre-order on Friday, September 13th at 5:00 AM PDT (scary). Those who complete this process can enter the system at that time, confirm their order and continue their day.
Do I need to get pre-approved?
Trying to complete all these steps when pre-orders go live can set you up for a delayed shipment if enough people get their pre-orders before you. It’s always a frenzy to get the exact iPhone you want, and you’re competing with potentially millions of people, so make sure you give yourself every edge.
The great thing about this program is that you can still trade in your iPhone before pre-orders go live – you’ll just have to go through the pre-approval process for credit. You can still choose to have the iPhone shipped to your home or pick it up at your local Apple Store.
You can get pre-approved for iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro in the iPhone Upgrade Program in the Apple Store app or on the Apple Store website.
