After the security measure is implemented In 2024The Find Hub app (formerly Find My Device) no longer requires biometric authentication.
Find Hub no longer requires your fingerprint or PIN before opening the Devices or People lists.
The change has rolled out over the past few hours and was still in place when we last checked this morning. This is a server side release with the latest Play Store update in February.
Biometric login should be an option for Find Hub, at least as Google Authenticator offers a “Privacy screen”. However, Google Maps has no such protection for location sharing. Find My on iOS also opens instantly without further confirmation.
Fingerprint unlock on Find Hub can be annoying if you’re actively using it to navigate to another person and need to authenticate twice.
In other developments, Google quietly added this line to the “What’s New” section of the Play Store listing with a recent update: “We fixed an issue where Exact Find was not working correctly on certain Android devices.”
