The iPhone Fold is coming later this yearand according to a remarkable leak, the all-new model has reached a major milestone, which is only good news for launch time.
The foldable iPhone is now in test production at Foxconn
Apple has been experimenting internally with foldable iPhones for years. But this is the year the first “iPhone Fold” finally arrived.
And according to Weibo leaker Instant Digital, the new model has reached a major development milestone. per head new post today (translated):
The iPhone Fold has now started test production at Foxconn.
Foxconn is Apple’s main partner in iPhone production. Moving into trial production with Foxconn means that Apple is steadily moving towards mass production of the iPhone Fold.
This is especially great news given recent reports that the foldable device could launch later than the iPhone 18 Pro.
Barclays analyst Tim Long recently reported he doesn’t expect the iPhone Fold to be in the hands of users until December. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman confirmed itpartially.
While Gurman was less specific about the timing, “there’s no doubt that (the iPhone Fold) will arrive a little later than the Pro phones.” He attributed the delay to the difficulties of manufacturing foldable phones and the fact that major new models, such as Apple’s iPhone X, went on sale later than other flagships.
Although, based on today’s leak, it looks like Apple is still aiming for a September launch.
In a new post today, Instant Digital quoted a previous post claiming that the iPhone Fold will launch at the same time as the iPhone 18 Pro. Moving into test production at Foxconn proves Apple’s timelines are going as planned so far.
