TL;DR

  • Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 8, Z Flip 8 and Wide Fold are likely to debut with Fraud Detection on board.
  • The feature uses Gemini to detect dark calls in real-time and is currently limited to English-speaking users in the US on the Galaxy S26 series.
  • We’ve found evidence that the new foldables will not only include Fraud Detection, but that Samsung may expand the feature to more countries.

Google is constantly moving forward Fraud detection as part of a broader AI suite. It uses Gemini to analyze calls in real time and alert users to potential fraud. The feature first appeared on Pixel devices, where it works on-device to protect user privacy while identifying dark and suspicious patterns in conversations.

Now it looks like Samsung is going to take things even further with its next generation of foldable devices.

While digging into the Phone by Google app (version 217.0.895016164-publicbeta-pixel), we found references to Gemini-powered Fraud Detection being extended to Samsung’s upcoming foldable devices.

The following model numbers appear in the program:

  • SM-F976 (Z Fold 8)
  • SM-F971 (Wide Folding)
  • SM-F776 (Z Flip 8)

These are accompanied by numerous model numbers indicating the regional variants of those devices, including:

  • B (global)
  • U/U1 (US carrier locked/unlocked)
  • W (Canada)
  • C, Z, Q (other regional markets)

Interestingly, the expected global variant of the Galaxy Z Flip 8, SM-F776B, is missing from the list of model numbers. It’s not clear if this is just an oversight or something more intentional.

The sheer spread of regional SKUs listed in the app not only suggests that Scam Detection is coming to Samsung’s new foldable devices, but also suggests that the company plans to roll out the feature more widely outside of the US. For what it’s worth, Google already supports Fraud Detection in many countries on its Pixel 9 and Pixel 10 devices.

Samsung is expected to introduce its next foldable devices At the Galaxy Unpacked event in July 2026and while it’s no surprise that the new phones are getting a feature already on the Galaxy S26 series, it’s good to know that Samsung will make Fraud Detection more widely available. It also suggests that Galaxy S26 users in other countries may be able to access Scam Detection after the release of the new foldables, or perhaps even earlier.
