Windows on Arm software gap?
I’m not going to fight anyone in particular. Honestly, I’ve seen so many ignorant statements about Windows 11 on Arm that it would take an entire article to list them.
At a glance, I saw that I used an example that actually worked, listing a bunch of basic programs running locally, noting Prism emulation, and then warning that some tools might not work. Sums up the issue perfectly.
My point is that app compatibility issues are overblown by many and unfortunately those who share false information are the people people trust to make purchases.
Please do me a favor. The next time you see someone claiming that Windows on Arm doesn’t have any programs, ask them to list specific programs that don’t work.
Some of us on the Windows Central team have done this on X, Reddit, and other forums and found that most people can’t list an app they trust that doesn’t work.
When you ask people who actually use PCs regularly, you’ll get a different answer than people who test them for a week or just read spec sheets and make assumptions. Don’t just take my word for it, check out the r/snapdragon subreddit.

Some older applications and devices that require unoptimized drivers may also experience problems on Windows 11 on Arm PCs.
I’m not here to claim that computers equipped with Snapdragon X chips are 100 percent compatible with all software and hardware. I’m saying that the issue has been overrun with criticism and it’s clear that some reviewers haven’t done their homework.

Not Snapdragon X computers gaming computersbut there is a growing library of games that can run on chips.
For many people, Windows 11 on an Arm PC is a perfectly reliable choice. I would argue that for many people they are the best choice.

Our 5-star ASUS Zenbook A16 review goes live this week, I doubt you’ll be surprised that the laptop gets my recommendation. But I need to add some context to the impressive laptop.
Went Zenbook A16 with a special twist up worth $100 upon release. ASUS claims it made a mistake as a result, Best Buy listed the laptop with a starting price of $1,599.99. This price was live even for a short period of time.
But with the Zenbook A16 Snapdragon X2 Elite Extreme and big 48 GB of RAMnow starting at $1,699.99.
The Zenbook A16 is still a great laptop. It’s beautiful, lightweight, and offers the best Windows on Arm experience available today. Unfortunately, it is not as cheap as it first seems.
