Hackers have reportedly stolen data from at least a dozen companies following a breach at a business monitoring software maker Anodeexposes its customers to extortion and risks their information being published online.

The breach is the latest example of hackers targeting software used by corporate giants to steal sensitive data from multiple companies at once.

The group targets companies that store large amounts of data in cloud storage. Last year, ShinyHunters focused on companies like Anodot. Profit and Salesloftit allows its customers to access and analyze large data sets in cloud storage in order to steal passwords and tokens. In some cases, stolen data contains clues that allow hackers to later breach other companies.
