Overwatch has made quite a comeback since the release of “2”, and its first season full of new heroes has been one of Blizzard’s best returns this year. Now we have more information about what you can expect Overwatch season 2short and sweet titled Summit.
What time does Overwatch Season 2 start?
The summit begins April 14th at 11:00am PT / 2:00pm ET / 7:00pm GMTwhich coincides with the game’s first release on the Nintendo Switch 2.
New hero Sierra for the DPS network
Sierra’s introduction continues the large-scale Rise of Talon storyline and comes with a 3-week event, allowing you to effectively read her story and learn more as you overcome challenges.
It’s nice to look at for a while, that’s for sure. Sierra is a DPS hero who uses a coiled ammo rifle and has a personal connection to the Soldier Enhancement program (her mother was the first test subject). He also gets his own combat drone called Dorothy, so it’s a two-for-one deal of sorts.

The 3-week Grand Mesa event will earn you more than story segments; you can also get rewards and other goodies like voice lines, battle pass tiers and loot boxes.
Small but important improvements
Since the release of the newest season, there have been a number of quality-of-life changes, including an update to post-game compliments.
The voting system has been redesigned to showcase moments that aren’t necessarily reflected in the final match statistics, and to show more personal finishes at the end of your matches.
Additionally, the Antarctica Map has been adjusted to improve layout and staging areas. You can expect better flanking routes and improved visibility on the battlefield.
Time to spend those Mythic Prisms
If you’ve been hoarding your Mythic Prisms and you’re a core member of Soldier 76, this is the season to sport them. Soldier: 76 gets his first Mythic skin, Volted Overdrive, as if it were straight out. Cyberpunk 2077. It has four levels of customization that allow you to change everything from biotech ability effects to different hairstyles.
For those who prefer a blade to a shotgun, there’s the Sumi-ichimonji Genji Mythical Weapon. As you level it up, the weapon becomes reactive, splattering ink on the screen as you eliminate. It’s easily one of the neatest weapon skins they’ve released to date, and looks more like Diablo cosmetics, but I’m not complaining.
Perk updates and shaking the Stadium
Blizzard is leaning more towards the Perks system with a mini update that makes some heroes feel a lot more rooted.
- Soldier: 76, Gains Agility Training, which increases his sprint speed by a massive 60% if you hold it for more than two seconds.
- Mercy grid gets a bit more benefit with Double Dose and gives a second charge of Flash Heal.
- Pharah becomes even more of a nuisance as her Concussive Blast now deals 50 burst damage and makes her shifter a completion move –
- Ramattra gains Extended Barrier, a Minor Perk that increases the size and duration of Void Barrier by 25%.
- Reaper gains Trigger Finger, a new Major Perk that refreshes the cooldown of Dire Triggers when using an ability and on reload.
Meanwhile, Stadium continues to evolve with Ramattra’s modding (with a ridiculously cool Diablo skin to boot) and a balance overhaul for Juno. Fans of Jetpack Cat will be pleased to know that he has switched to mid-season mode. Because only in the Blizzard game cats can fly.
Crossovers and blooming looks
The LE SSERAFIM collaboration returns for its third tour from April 14th to 27th. If you’ve missed out on these Legendary skins before, or just want to see Ashe dynamite with her new RGB effects, now’s the time.
If K-POP isn’t your thing and you’ve already filled your boots with insanely cute Hello Kitty merchandise, the Sakura Collection also comes in season. A softer, cherry blossom-inspired aesthetic for heroes like Hanzo, Junker Queen, and newcomer Sierra.
Overwatch is now on Switch 2… too!
Finally, jump for the hand mass Nintendo Switch 2 is pretty big news. We’re looking at 60 FPS in both docked and handheld modes, with significantly higher resolutions. It’s a far cry from the blurry but functional port of the original Switch, making it a real way to play competitively on the go. Diablo 4 is also rumored to be getting a Switch 2 port, so it looks like Blizzard really is making sure you can’t miss its games this year. WoW console port when?
A quick word for bargain hunters
If you want to fund Battle Pass without opening your wallet, you may want to consider switching to Microsoft Rewards. Usually, cashing in your points for Overwatch Coins is the best way to get past the paywall, but be aware: coins are currently shown as out of stock. I’m not sure if they’ve been completely removed from the app and if this is a placeholder or not, but it says “back soon” so watch this space.
