The notebooks are now available to users of the free Gemini app

After Google AI is made available to subscribers earlier this monthThe Gemini program has now launched laptops for free users.

On gemini.google.com, you’ll find the new Notebooks section in the sidebar above Gems and Conversations. These are the same notebooks that appear in the NotebookLM app. So you can continue creating Video Walkthroughs, Infographics and other Studio outputs.

You can think of them as projects that “give you a special place to organize your conversations and files.” Any conversation in the Gemini app can be added to the notebook from the three-dot overflow menu.

Although there is a “notebook memory” setting that can be disabled, Google will “take into account (a) all conversations in the notebook when responding”. There is also support for providing custom guidelines for tone and response format.

There are laptops available now For free users with up to 50 resources. 100/notebook for AI Plus subscribers, 300/notebook for Pro and 600/notebook for Ultra.

Looking to the future, laptops will be a “personal database shared between Google products.” The company is offering “even more useful features” for the notebooks in the future. Notebooks are not yet mobile or live Mac applicationswith full availability in the “coming weeks”.
