The Palantir X account posted a lengthy post on Sunday with the explanation that “we get asked about this a lot.” The Technological Republic: Hard Power, Soft Faith, and the Future of the West, a A book co-authored by Palantir CEO Alex Karp and published over a year ago. Nicholas W. Zamiska is another credited co-author.
Because we are asked a lot of questions.
Technological Republic, in short.

I guess people spammed Palantir for a 22 paragraph summary of a book. Review by Gideon Lewis-Kraus in the New Yorker“sings an automated Spotify playlist of the national decade’s greatest hits.” I don’t know why anyone would ask this, but if it was you, I hope you enjoyed Palantir’s long answer.
The summary does not come with a single thesis, but a picture emerges of an America depleted and disempowered, in need of a cohesive techno-military project to compete with, and possibly kill, our enemies with the help of artificial intelligence, the new ultimate weapon of the post-nuclear age. There are no surprises so far, as Palantir clearly presents itself as a player AI powered death delivery system.
In the process, the article essentially says that we need to respect our technology leaders instead of belittling them and abolishing culture, and that we should stop pretending that all cultures are good when some cultures are “commutative and worse, regressive and harmful” while others “work wonders.”
The final point is:
“We must resist the shallow temptation of empty and empty pluralism. We, in America and more broadly in the West, have resisted defining national cultures in the name of inclusivity for the last half century. But entering what?’
Patient and generous readers of conservative thought (or Listeners of the Know Your Enemy podcast) many will recognize in this Palantir tweet as a high-tech riff on the ideas of twentieth-century thinkers like Leo Bloom—one who, by the way, denies being a conservative. Bloom criticized the education system of his day for devaluing the Western book and Western thought in general, which he believed to be an important source of wisdom.
Similarly, Karp, it may or may not be worth noting, While voting for Kamala Harris in 2024, many of her friends and co-workers abandoned liberalism and became do-or-die MAGAs.. But for what it’s worth, Karp also once he claimed “Spending too much time talking to Nazis”.
Still, at a time when hard-rights and racists aren’t masking their ideologies or cloaking themselves in euphemisms, it’s fair to at least acknowledge the dubious virtue of Karp and Zamiska’s obscurity.
Palantir is not a blog or newsletter. It is a defense contractor with a market capitalization of approx 350 billion dollarsand right now it looks like it’s on post X. Its AI tools are already used in wars around the world. One of those wars is framed by our president a clash of civilizations in which one can completely destroy the other, and if it doesn’t get its way, it can..
So, assuming it’s to be viewed as a statement of purpose at this sequential moment in time, Palantir’s X post is really illuminating.
