Samsung never hesitates to show off concepts of its future ideas, and Milan Design Week 2026 is no exception. At the event, Samsung debuted its latest concept, Project Luna, a desktop gadget that doubles as part robot and part smart speaker.
Project Luna includes a round head with a screen that turns to face you. Marketing materials show that it rotates to find the best angle, but it can also rotate back and forth depending on where it needs to be displayed. Think of it like a satellite dish both rotating and moving up and down to get a better view of the sky.
Example installation shown Milan Design Week includes Project Luna on the kitchen table, connecting to the user’s smartphone, playing music with a record player-like interface, answering questions via voice and screen, and controlling room lighting.
An example of Samsung’s tech-laden dining table shows Luna’s screen saying, “Here are some of my recommended meal options for today.” Other projectors in the kitchen display information such as food calories and a calendar notification for dinner. The information appears to come from Luna and her AI abilities.

The show doesn’t have a clear AI assistant; the user interface shows something more conceptual than Bixby or Gemini talking to the user.
As with many of Samsung’s concept devices, this one is more intended as inspiration for future products than something you can buy. in an interview with Fast CompanyMauro Porcini, Samsung’s chief design officer, said the concept was more about “a vibe, a sense of the (design) language we want to use.”
Porcini also said: “These are all things that could actually happen in the future.” We’ve seen Samsung do something similar with early concepts for their foldable phones before debuting similar display technology in their latest releases.

Samsung hasn’t had the best luck with smart speakers historically, with canceled projects like Samsung Galaxy Home In 2018, followed delays and the cancellation of rumors for its Ballie household robot.
The Ballie robot was designed to follow users around their homes and was expected to be launched by the end of 2025. In January of this year, Samsung suggested that it did not intend to sell the Ballie to customers in its current form, positioning the product as an “active innovation platform” rather than a consumer-focused gadget.
