“I talked to the Russians, and I said, ‘I don’t know if people are going to like it… I don’t know if it’s going to really affect people, because they were kids who grew up with this character,'” recalls Favreau.But he soon realized there was no need to worry.
“But I have to tell you, it was very well directed by them. And Gwyneth (Paltrow) and Robert did such a wonderful job of acting, and I think that added a poignancy to it. I think they did a wonderful job. I was wrong.”
He also said he “choked up” watching the emotional scenes and is excited for Downey’s return to the MCU, albeit this time as the evil Doctor Doom in December. Avengers: Judgment Day.
