Where it’s available, upcoming cities and new features (April 2026)


Waymo’s autonomous vehicles date back to Google’s self-driving car project, which began in 2009. Starting today, you can get rides in 11 cities across the US.

Where Waymo is fully present

Use the Waymo app Android and iOSyou can go for a walk Phoenix, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, Miamiand Orlando. See the service maps below:

It is also available Atlanta and Austin by partnering with Uber using their regular app. To set up, go to the Uber app > Account tab > Settings > Driving preferences > Autonomous Vehicles and change Waymo. This allows you to match with these cars when requesting UberX, Uber Green, Uber Comfort or Uber Comfort Electric. Then select “Accept a Ride” and unlock the vehicle using the Uber app upon arrival.

Right now, Waymo is using a white Jaguar I-Pace with various sensors around the car. There is also a dome that displays your initials when you come up.

Early access to Waymo cities

In early access cities, Waymo allows people who have downloaded the app and registered to access the service. New riders are continuously invited to “ensure a seamless experience”.

As of February 2026, this includes Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, and Nashville (also coming to Lyft).

Upcoming Waymo Cities

Waymo, part of Google’s parent company Alphabet, has announced its expansion:

  • Detroit, MI
  • Las Vegas, NV
  • San Diego, CA
  • Washington, DC – 2026

Note that this is the first international expansion London in 2026.

  • Highways In Phoenix, SF and LA for those who choose.
