Prime Videos Invincible just finished fourth seasonbut the show isn’t on yet. Next week sees the release of the fighting game Invincible VS, and developer Quarter Up took the opportunity to highlight the game’s story mode.
So far, the focus has been on the show’s characters beating the hell out of each other. Nothing new for fighting games, but like the game’s only OC Ella Mental, the story mode original idea from the show’s creators and offers a different spin on events previously adapted. The main thrust of the story is to explore what would happen if Nolan never changed and still led the Viltrumite to invade Earth and it was up to Mark and the Guardians of the Globe to stop it.
Since the creators of the show are involved, Invincible VS most of the show’s cast members reprise their roles to some point. For the most part, actors like JK Simmons and Gillian Jacobs are back as Omni-Man and Atom Eve, and you can hear it all the way through. The cast includes new additions Alex the Invincible Ace Michael Schwalbe as Powerplex (stepping in for Aaron Paul) and Gavin Hammond as Cecil (replacing Walton Goggins), replacing Steven Yeun. Interestingly, Jason Mantzoukas returned for Rex Splode, however only For campaign — Rex is played by Ryan Goldscher in gameplay.
As some online have pointed out, this is not an uncommon practice in voice acting. Robert Downey Jr. In 2008, he voiced Tony Stark Iron man game, but the actual superhero was played by someone else, and Mortal Kombat 1 had voice characters John Cena and Megan Fox whose physical voices were handled by other actors. How carefully They are invincible the cast is assembled, the new actors fit in pretty easily, and if the goal was to really make the story feel like an episode of the show, mission accomplished.
